Cohen Claims Eastern Kinetics Holiday Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior Josh Cohen of the University of Miami men’s tennis team won the Eastern Kinetics Holiday Championship in Philadelphia, Pa. Thursday with a three-set win over Joey Atas of Duke.

Cohen, ranked 20th nationally, downed 29th-ranked Atas, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, to capture the tournament title.

He advanced to Thursday’s championship match with a straight-set, 6-4, 6-4, semifinal win over former Georgia standout Adam Seri. In the quarterfinals Cohen knocked off David Blumeris, 6-3, 6-2 following a second round victory over Ben Zing (6-3, 6-4) of NC State.
