Banada Wins A-Flight Consolation at the ITA Southern Regional Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>ATHENS, Ga. – Junior Audrey Banada outlasted USF’s Neyessa Etienne to win the “A” flight consolation at the ITA Southern Regional Championship Sunday afternoon at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

In the morning’s semifinal, Banada defeated UAB’s Gulsah Esen, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the final where she claimed a 7-5, 6-2 straight set victory over Etienne.
There were two flights, an “A” and a “B,” which had a 64-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles bracket plus singles consolation.
The ITA Southern Regionals featured players from the following 21 schools: Alabama, Alabama-Birmingham, Auburn, Bethune-Cookman, Central Florida, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Florida, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Southeast Missouri State and Troy.
The Hurricanes return to action at the UNC-Kitty Harrison Invitational that will take place November 4-6.
