Cohen Moves Into Quarterfinals at ITA Southeast Regional

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With a pair of wins on Saturday’s round of 32 and 16, junior Josh Cohen of the University of Miami men’s tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2005 Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by the University of Memphis.

Cohen, ranked 20th nationally and playing as the tournament’s No. 3 seed, opened play Saturday with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Mississippi State’s Ivan Bjelica in the round of 32 to move into the round of 16 where he knocked off Mississippi’s Eric Ciaesson, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1.

Cohen will take on 56th-ranked Chris Brandi of Florida in Sunday’s quarterfinals beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In doubles, Cohen teamed with senior Eric Hechtman to down UF’s Brandi and Vlad Obradovic, 8-3, in the round of 32 to move into Saturday night’s round of 16.(results to be update soon)

Sophomore Vivek Subramanian and senior John Hoyes fell in the round of 32 to Georgia State’s Anze Cewka and Martin Stiegwardt, 8-4.
