D'Agord Moves on to Quarterfinals of All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – University of Miami junior Luigi D’Agord upended Richardo Soriano of Tulsa in Friday’s round of 16 draw to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2005 Polo Ralph Lauren All-America Championships held at the University of Tulsa.

A day after moving through the first and second rounds, D’Agord, ranked 26th nationally, defeated Soriano, 7-5, 6-2, Friday in the round of 16 to move on to Saturday’s quarterfinals. D’Agord will take on Stanford freshman and 104th-ranked Matt Bruch, who is the first freshman to make an appearance in the All-American Championships since 2001, Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2005-06 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the third event is the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
