Hurricanes Finish First Day at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Members of the University of Miami men’s tennis team wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2005 Gator Invitational by taking three-of-four single matches Friday afternoon against South Florida at the Ring Tennis Complex.
The Hurricanes’ 100th-ranked senior Eric Hechtman bounced back from a 6-2 first set loss to Marc Jager to win, 7-6 (4), 7-5 in the second and third, respectively. Sixty-second ranked senior Tim Krebs claimed a win over Juan Barragan who was forced to retire with an injury in the second set. following a 6-2 win by Krebs in the first set. UM sophomore Vivek Subramanian downed Mark Gettiker, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 while junior P.J. Passalacqua fell to Dirk Britzen, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
The Hurricanes will return Saturday to face host Florida at 10 a.m. in the second day of play at the Gator Invitational.
