Hechtman Falls in Finals of ITA National Summer Championships

Bloomington, Ind. – Eric Hechtman, a rising senior on the University of Miami’s men’s tennis team, reached the finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles Summer Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Tuesday.
Hechtman, who posted an overall record of 18-11 during the 2004-05 season, fell to Notre Dame’s Eric Langenkamp in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at the Indiana University Varsity Tennis Center.
The singles and doubles winners from the men’s and women’s side earn wild-cards into the first national tournament of the 2005-06 season. Hechtman, and all other finalists, earn a wild-card into the respective qualifying tournaments.
The ITA National Summer Championships were played at 23 regional sites throughout the country. The USTA-sponsored championships are the apex of the ITA’s Collegiate Summer Circuit.
Hechtman, a graduate of Miami Sunset high school, defeated Brett McKeon (Cornell) in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to reach the finals.
