Bradley and Cohen Named To USA Tennis Collegiate Summer Team

KEY BISCAYNE, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – Former University of Miami women’s tennis standout Megan Bradley and rising sophomore Audra Cohen–who transferred to Miami following a stellar freshman year at Northwestern–have been named to the 2005 USA Tennis Collegiate Summer Team, administered by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was announced Monday. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Bradley and Cohen are two of twelve of the nation’s top men’s and women’s collegiate tennis players to be named to the team. USTA High Performance coaches Lori McNeil and David Roditi will be coaching the women’s and men’s teams, respectively.
The USA Tennis Collegiate Summer Team is an elite training program for the top American collegiate tennis players that began in 1996 and is funded by the USTA. It is designed to provide players with valuable exposure to the USTA Pro Circuit in a team-oriented environment during the summer months.
The top four American players from the season-ending ITA singles rankings are automatic selections, while two players for each team are wild card selections by the USTA High Performance staff.
Bradley, the ITA’s National Player of the Year, finished the season ranked No. 1 in the ITA final singles rankings and earned All-American honors in singles and doubles. Cohen, who was named ITA National Rookie of the Year and reached the NCAA singles final, closed her freshman campaign ranked third by the ITA and was an All-American in both singles and doubles.
This year’s women’s team will consist of the following players:
