Megan Bradley Receives Academic All-District First Team Honors

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. The University of Miami tennis team’s Megan Bradley was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced Thursday. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

The award is the most recent in a long list of accolades that Bradley has accumulated this season. The Columbia, Mo. native was named the ITA Senior Player of the Year, Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and was named the ACC/UM Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

 

Bradley, who received a sports administration degree in May, was also named the Most Outstanding Student in the School of Education’s Sports Administration Program and was a UM graduation commencement speaker. She graduated with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

 

In her final season, Bradley was dominating in both singles and doubles. Ranked No. 1 in singles  throughout the spring, she carried a 39-match win streak into the second round of the NCAA singles tournament where she suffered a three-set heartbreaking loss.

 

Bradley closed her senior season with a 44-2 overall mark–a UM single season record. After only three seasons with the Hurricanes, Bradley finished her career fourth all-time with a 98-17 record.

 

The reigning ITA National Indoor Champion and five-time All-American, has posted a 34-3 mark in doubles and is ranked No. 3 in the country alongside sophomore Audrey Banada. The Miami pair is 27-2 overall this season and is the third seed in the NCAA Doubles Tournament.
