The 67th ranked University of Miami men’s tennis squad dropped a 4-0 decision to 11th ranked Pepperdine in non-conference action at the Ralphs-StrausTennisCenter in Malibu Wednesday afternoon. With the loss the Hurricanes fall to 7-6 in on the season.

The match was called after Pepperdine’s (81) Scott Doerner defeated (87) Josh Cohen 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to clinch the win for the Waves.  Cohen held an early edge with a 3-2 lead in the first set before Doerner won 10 of the match’s 11 remaining games for the straight set win.

 

Miami senior Luis Manrique and freshman Vivek Subramanian lost at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots, respectively, while the other matches were called before they were finished.

 

The Hurricanes will look to end their five-match skid when they travel up the coast to Los Angeles to face No. 75 Loyola Marymount for a non-conference match Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
