Hurricanes Step Out of Conference with a Pair of Matches in the Golden State

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will break from ACC play Wednesday and Thursday when they head to the state of California to take on No. 12 Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount in a pair of non-conference matches.

The Hurricanes (7-5) will look to break a four-match skid Wednesday against Pepperdine (10-2) at 4 p.m. in Malibu before heading to Los Angeles Thursday where they will take on LMU (3-7) at 4:30 p.m.

UM’s singles lineup currently boast two nationally ranked players in junior Tim Krebs – ranked 64th – and sophomore Josh Cohen – ranked 87th. Krebs has posted a team-leading overall record of 15-6 on the year and is 7-4 this spring while Cohen is 14-9 overall this season and 6-5 in dual play.

Junior Eric Hechtman holds the team’s best record this spring, going 9-2 overall playing primarily at the No. 3 position.

Cohen and Hechtman are also ranked 52nd nationally as a doubles tandem.

The Hurricanes are 2-14 all-time against Pepperdine and won the only previous meeting against Loyola Marymount.
