Bradley Ranked No. 1 in the Country

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami senior Megan Bradley became the Hurricanes’ highest ranked player since 1988 when she was ranked No. 1 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll that was released Tuesday.
Bradley’s No. 1 ranking ties her with former Miami standout Ronnie Reis who’s No. 1 ranking in 1988 was the highest a UM women’s tennis player had ever been ranked.
“Being ranked No. 1 in the country is the result of a lot of hard work,” said head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews. “Although it’s great to be ranked No. 1 in March, my goal and Megan’s goal is to be No. 1 in the country June 1st. We’re proud of what she’s doing and it’s a huge accomplishment for her and for this University.”
Bradley, who opened the season ranked second in the country, has amassed an 83-16 record and is fifth all-time in only three seasons at UM. The Columbia, Mo. native has gone 29-1 this season while posting an undefeated mark in 10 matches in dual play.
Bradley and sophomore Audrey Banada also remained the countries’ fourth ranked doubles tandem. Miami’s No. 1 doubles pair is currently 19-1 overall have gone unbeaten in nine matches this spring.
The Hurricanes moved up to ninth in the team rankings after being ranked 10th in the past four polls, dating back to Feb. 8th. UM has won six straight en route to an 8-2 record and have held opponents scoreless in six matches this season.
Miami is one spot behind ACC rival Duke, who fell from No. 5 to No. 8, and two spots ahead of No. 11 North Carolina. Georgia Tech jumped ahead of Clemson for 17th in the country. The Tigers fell out of the Top 20, coming in at 21 to round out the ACC teams in the Top 25.
Also ranked in the singles poll was sophomore Emily Mowery who moved up to 70th after debuting 98th on Feb. 22nd. Mowery is currently 3-2 from the No. 6 position.
The Hurricanes return to action in their inaugural ACC home opener against instate rival Florida State Friday, March 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
