MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sophomore Josh Cohen’s run in the Wilson/ITA Southeast Region Championships ended Sunday afternoon after falling in the semifinals to No. 1 seed Jesse Witten of Kentucky, 6-2, 6-4 at the Memphis Racquet Club in Memphis, Tenn.
Cohen, playing as the No. 9 seed, advanced to the semifinals after downing Florida’s Janne Holmia, 7-5, 6-0 in the quarterfinals held Sunday morning.
Prior to the loss to Witten, ranked No. 3 nationally in singles, Cohen rolled through the tournament field winning in each of the previous four rounds in straight sets to reach the semifinals.
Cohen and the Hurricanes will return to action Oct. 29, traveling to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take part in the Crimson Tide Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama.
