Krebs, Cohen and Hechtman Lead Hurricanes at Second Day of the Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior Tim Krebs recorded a win in singles play while teammates, sophomore Josh Cohen and junior Eric Hechtman, posted a victory in doubles against intrastate rival Florida at the second day of competition Saturday for the University of Miami men’s tennis team at the 2004 Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
Krebs overtook the Gators’ Chris Brandi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, earning UM’s only win in singles play.
The Hurricanes’ 59th-ranked duo of Cohen and Hectman edged out UF’s Martin Stiegwardt and Stefan Tell in the doubles tie breaker, 9-7 to win 9-8.
Miami returns Sunday for the third and final day of competition at the Gator Invitational, taking on Mississippi State at 9 a.m.
