No. 20 Miami Beats No. 68 Virginia Tech, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 20-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team remains undefeated at home with a 6-1 victory over No. 68 Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improve to 9-1 overall and 8-0 at home. The Hokies drop to 9-7 on the season.
UM leads the all-time series 6-0 over the Hokies.
Miami swept through doubles play with wins at all three spots.
The Hurricanes quickly clinched the match with simultaneous wins from Natalie Mikolich (Boca Raton, Fla.), Audrey Banada (North Miami Beach, Fla.) and Staci Stevens (Hammond, La.).
Mikolich downed Meredith Holmes 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, while Banada beat Carolina Rodriguez 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Stevens beat Ashley James 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
No. 9 Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) beat No. 83 Anat Elazari 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) beat Felice Lam 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot.
The Hurricanes are back in action traveling to face No. 12 UCLA Wednesday afternoon.
