No. 20 Tennis Rolls Past No. 30 William & Mary, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 20 ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team rolled to a 6-1 victory over visiting No. 30 William & Mary Tuesday night at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improve to 7-1 overall and remain undefeated at home this season. The Tribe fall to 10-8 overall.
Miami snapped a six-match losing streak to William & Mary dating back to the 1992 season. With the win Miami improves to 4-6 all-time against the Tribe.
The Hurricanes swept through doubles winning at all three spots.
Miami quickly went up 2-0 in the match as No. 9 Megan Bradley’s (Columbia, Mo.) opponent No. 19 Megan Muth defaulted due to a lingering injury. Bradley was up 3-1 in the first set.
The Tribe fought back as Amy Wei beat Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Freshman Audrey Banada (North Miami Beach, Fla.) remained undefeated on the season as she downed Emily Mowery 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.
Staci Stevens (Hammond, La.) clinched the match for the Hurricanes with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory over Kate Boomershine at No. 4 singles.
The Hurricanes won the two remaining matches as Sihem Bennacer (Algiers, Algeria) beat Lingda Yang 1-6, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) beat Lena Sherbakov 7-6 (4), 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
The Hurricanes are back in action Thursday at 6 p.m. hosting No. 34 Wake Forest.
