Hurricanes Down Western Michigan, 7-0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team swept all six singles matches, while taking the doubles point to defeat Western Michigan, 7-0 Saturday in South Bend, Ind.
The 33rd-ranked Hurricanes (6-0) captured the doubles point, winning at the No. 1 and 3 positions to take a 1-0 lead over WMU (9-3).
UM continued to roll in singles play with sophomore Eric Hechtman downing Tommy Dennis, 6-2, 7-6 (6) at the No. 2 spot, sophomore John Hoyes upending Jose Orozco, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, sophomore Tim Krebs overtaking Brady Crosby, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 4sophomore Colin Purcell defeating Justin Kates, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 5 and sophomore Jeremiah Fuller winning at No. 6 over Diego Campello, 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman Josh Cohen also won at the No. 1 slot when the Broncos’ Ravi Pathanjali retired during the third set tie-break.
The undefeated Hurricanes return to action Sunday, facing BIG EAST foe Notre Dame at 1 p.m.
