No. 22 Women's Tennis Beats No. 37 South Alabama, 7-0

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Freshman Audrey Banada (North Miami Beach, Fla.) clinched the match for the No. 22 Miami women’s tennis team as they rolled to a 7-0 victory over No. 37 South Alabama Friday night at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Jaguars fall to 4-3 overall.

Banada clinched the match with a win over Klara Jarova 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. She improves to 4-0 on the season and 13-1 overall.

Miami won all three doubles matches jumping out to an early 1-0 lead over South Alabama.

No. 11 Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) put Miami up 2-0 in the match with a straight set win over Andrea Kurekova 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) upset No. 85 Katarina Palenikova with a straight set victory 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Banada clinched the match, while Sihem Bennacer (Algiers, Algeria), No. 97 Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) and No. 99 Staci Stevens (Hammond, La.) all won their matches in the third set.

The Hurricanes are back in action traveling to face No. 11 Harvard Thursday at 2 p.m.
