Women's Tennis Advances At All-American

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Miami junior Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) won the first two matches in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Tuesday afternoon.
No. 34 Bradley playing in the qualifying bracket as the No. 6 seed beat No. 66 Michelle DaCosta of Michigan 6-1, 7-5 in the first round.
She advanced beating No. 76 Tracie Chong of Rice 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the second round.
Bradley will face No. 91 Audra Falk of Vanderbilt Wednesday. The winner of the match will qualify for play in the main draw.
Sophomore Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) fell in the first round to Lauren Archer of Rice 6-1, 6-1.
No. 48 Applebaum then played No. 81 Katie Martzolf of Wake Forest in the back draw beating her 6-4, 6-3.
Applebaum and Bradley who are the No. 1 doubles seed in the qualifying bracket and ranked No. 10 in the nation beat No. 49 Karin Coetzee and Katie Martzolf of Wake Forest 8-4 in the first round.
The duo face Saras Arasu and Kristin Cargill of Duke in the second round.
