Tim Krebs & Josh Cohen Advance To The Round Of 16

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami men’s tennis team won both singles and doubles matches played in the Round of 32 at the Icy Hot ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Sunday afternoon advancing to the Round of 16.

Tim Krebs (Eschborn, Germany) and Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla.) both won their singles matches in day three of the All-American tournament to advance to the Round of 16 Monday at 9 a.m.

Krebs defeated Jose-Carlos Pinto of Mississippi State in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 32. Cohen won the first set 6-2 before losing the second set 7-5 to Carl Hagman of Arizona; he battled back to take the match 6-1 in the third.

Krebs will face Evgheni Corduneau of UL-Lafayette, while Cohen will play Catalin Bradu of Central Florida in the Round of 16.

Cohen teamed with Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.) to beat West Nott and Marko Rajevac of Georgia Tech 8-6 in the Round of 32. The duo withdrew play in the Round of 16.

Tim Krebs and Colin Purcell also won in the round of 32 beating Andre Maier and Kristijan Mitrovski of UAB 8-2.

The duo was chosen to skip the Round of 16 advancing to the Semifinals which will be played on Tuesday.
