Men's Tennis Wraps Up Day One Of The Gator Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami men’s tennis team won five-of-six singles matches in day one of the Gator Invitational Friday morning in Gainesville, Fla.
Miami faced South Florida in the first round of the hidden dual tournament hosted by Florida.
Tim Krebs (Eschborn, Germany) improves to 3-1 on the fall season with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over No. 53 Paco Antelo at No. 1 singles.
Freshman Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla.) beat No. 66 Karim Benmansour in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Sophomore Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.) lost the first set to Renato Silvira 6-3, before fighting back to win the next two 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot.
John Hoyes II (Miami, Fla.) and Jonathan Ounjian (Delray Beach, Fla.) notched their second victories of the fall season at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Hoyes beat Matias Sigal 7-6, 7-6, while Ounjian beat German Escallon 6-3, 6-2.
Krebs teamed with Colin Purcell (Louisville, Ky.) to knock off No. 15 Antelo and Silveira 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. The duo are a perfect 4-0 so far this season.
Miami will face Mississippi State Saturday at 10 a.m. in Gainesville, Fla.
