Doubles Duo Advances In NCAA's

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 21-ranked Miami doubles team of Melissa Applebaum and Megan Bradley advance to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Tournament after knocking off the No. 8-ranked doubles team Tuesday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla. in the first round.
Applebaum and Bradley beat Julie DeRoo and Amanda Johnson of Duke University in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The Hurricane duo improves to 15-2 on the season in doubles action.
They advance to face the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the nation Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette of Stanford Wednesday afternoon.
In singles action, No. 79 Bradley battled for two hours and 23 minutes, the longest singles match of the day, but lost in three sets to No. 19 Amanda Johnson of Duke.
Bradley won the first set 6-2, before falling 6-4 in the second and 7-6 (6) in the third set.
She wraps up her sophomore campaign with a 17-9 overall record.
