No. 21 Women's Tennis Upsets No. 12 Texas, 4-3

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Junior Sara Robbins (Tuscon, Ariz.) clinched the 4-3 victory for the No. 21-ranked Miami women’s tennis team over No. 12-ranked Texas Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas.
Miami remains undefeated on the season at 4-0 overall, Texas drops to 0-1.
Robbins defeated Macey Breece in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to clinch the match for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes jumped out to an early 3-0 lead winning the doubles point and posting straight set victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) remains perfect on the season with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lindsay Blau at No. 3 singles.
At No. 5 singles Ewelina Skaza (Warsow, Poland) defeated Kelly Baritot 6-4, 6-4.
Robbins clinched the match before Miami lost at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles.
Ziva Grasic was able to give Texas its first point of the afternoon. Grasic rallied from a one-set deficit to post a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over sophomore Staci Stevens (Hammond, La.) at the No. 4 position.
Kendra Strohm, ranked No. 67 in the nation, topped Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 for UT’s second point of the match.
With the dual meet already decided in Miami’s favor, Michelle Krinke and Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) elected to play a 10-point tiebreaker for the third set. Toro rallied from a 9-5 deficit to pull even and held match point at 11-10 before Krinke reeled off three straight points to post a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (11) victory at the No. 2 position.
