Women's Tennis Defeats Florida International 4-2.

Gainesville, Fla.- The No. 32 University of Miami women’s tennis team defeated No. 35 cross-town rival Florida International, 4-2, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Regionals in Gainesville, Fla.
The Hurricanes (14-6) fell early in the match, 1-0, losing the doubles point but came back strong to take four of six singles matches to clinch the win over the Golden Panthers (19-7).
Senior Marcy Hora tied the match, 1-1, cruising past Mei Ly in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
At the No. 4 position, Christina Campana defeated sophomore Sihem Bennacer 6-4, 6-1, giving FIU a 2-1 lead.
The Hurricanes took the next two singles matches as freshman Ewelina Skaza defeated Marina Raic 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 position, while freshman Sara Robbins recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nazly Elsawaf at the No. 6 spot.
No. 64 sophomore transfer Mari Toro clinched the win for the Hurricanes, 4-2, defeating Anneliese Rose 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 in two hours and thirty minutes at the No. 1 position.
Additionally, Miami improves to 2-0 on the season against FIU. They defeated the Golden Panthers 6-1 on Feb. 13 at the University Park tennis courts.
Miami will face the winner of the Florida/Central Florida match on Saturday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m. in Gainesville, Fla.
