No. 39 Men's Tennis Falls To No. 25 Texas A&M, 4-1

COLLEGE STATION, Texas–The No. 39-ranked Miami men’s tennis team fell to No. 25 Texas A&M, 4-1, Monday afternoon indoors at the City of Bryan Tennis Center.
The win was the Aggies’ (11-2, 0-1) fifth straight over the Hurricanes (5-5).
Freshman Ante Matijevic quickly got the Aggies on the scoreboard at 1-0, as he needed just 53 minutes to dispatch Miami’s Jose Lieberman, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3.
In a battle of true freshmen, Miami’s No. 18-ranked Todd Widom overcame a set-point by A&M’s No. 109-ranked Lester Cook in the first set to force a tiebreaker and win in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-2, at No. 1.
With the match tied at 1-1, A&M’s No. 44-ranked Ryan Newport defeated Miami’s Tomas Smid, 7-6 (4), 6-4, at No. 2 to give the Aggies a 2-1 lead.
Then, Keith From used less than 40 minutes to beat Miami’s Andrew McDade, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 to give A&M a 3-1 advantage.
A&M senior Jarin Skube clinched the match for the Aggies with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Miami’s Joel Berman at No. 5.
The remaining singles match with A&M’s Khaled El Dorry and Miami’s Tarik El Bassiouni, did not finish.
