Miami Practices In Full Pads Before Leaving For Spring Break
March 8, 2002
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The return of warm, sunny weather marked the first practice of full pads as the University of Miami Hurricanes broke for Spring Break at the end of Friday’s two-hour workout at the Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus.
“It turned out to be a good day to be in full pads for us with the weather improving and all,” said head coach Larry Coker. “We were able to get a lot done today, including some scrimmaging. I thought the running backs did a nice job and the defensive ends really applied some pressure today. It was a good day for us and we’ve got plenty of good things to look at on video after this one.”
Coker was particularly impressed with the continuing standout performances of receiver Roscoe Parrish. The redshirt freshman from Miami Senior High School made several catches to highlight the scrimmaging portion of the practice. “He’s exciting to watch and I really think we’re going to see some exciting things from him.”
The Hurricanes will observe the University’s Spring Break before continuing Spring Practice on Tuesday, March 19, with a workout scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree. All Spring Practices are open to the public until further notice.
With Friday’s practice, Miami has 11 of 15 practices remaining in 2002 Spring Football that will conclude with the annual CanesFest Spring Game at the Orange Bowl on the morning of Saturday, April 6.
