No. 38 Women's Tennis Cruises Past No. 48 Miss. State, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 38-ranked Miami women’s tennis team swept through doubles and won five-of-six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over visiting No. 48 Mississippi State Friday night at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes remain unbeaten at 4-0, while MSU drops to 3-2 overall.

Miami won all three doubles matches, entering singles play with a one-point advantage. The Hurricanes dominated singles play losing only one match by default.

No. 69 Mari Toro defeated Carole Soubis in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

The Hurricanes won No. 3 through No. 6 singles, with wins from Sihem Bennacer, Staci Stevens, Ewelina Skaza and Sara Robbins.

Miami returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. facing No. 3 Florida.
