Men's and Women's Tennis ranked in the top 50 by the ITA.

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — The University of Miami men’s tennis team was ranked No. 18, while the women’s team was ranked No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The men’s tennis team is coming off an impressive 21-4 season and an NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen appearance. They finished the season with a No. 11 final national ranking and a seventh BIG EAST Conference championship title.
The Hurricanes have six letterwinners returning for the 2001-2002 season and have lost only three to graduation. Miami also has three newcomers, including freshman standout Todd Widom (Coral Springs, Fla.). Widom had an impressive 9-2 fall season record, including an appearance at the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships.
The women’s tennis team finished the 2000-2001 season with a 15-9 mark and a second place conference finish. Additionally, they ended the season with a No.37 final national ranking.
The women’s team lost three players, but return seven from last year’s squad and have three newcomers, including sophomore transfer Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.). Toro, who finished the fall season with an 11-5 singles and doubles record, received a No. 69 national ranking.
