tony davenport, chatham, Illinois to the entire team: congratulations on an undefeated national championship season. I’ve been a ‘canes fan forever and am waiting for it to work out for me to get down there to a game. everyone at work said what a shame it wasn’t a better game. the only thing that would’ve made it better would have been a shutout. my best friend from high school lives in Nebraska and told me how you have to like the ‘huskers out there or people will kill you. I laugh at him. again, congratulations and if there is any chance Najeh has an extra jersey lying around that he doesn’t need anymore, tell him his long lost cousin in Illinois could use it.

Randy Bussard, Berlin,PA to Coach Coker and 2001 Chanpionship team: Congratulations on your 2001 National Championship. Although I have no personal ties to UofM, I have been a Miami fan since the days of quaterback Jim Kelley. Growing up in southwestern PA, everybody here bleeds PSU blue. Coach Paterno had attempted to recruit Kelley to play linebacker as Penn State. So as a means of irritating my die hard PSU friends, I became a Hurricane fan and I remained so since. Great job, congratulations, class act!

My kids went to Indiana Univ. and a couple of years ago ..my son and I drove to South Bend to see the canes play N. Dame for the last time..catholics vs. convicts t-shirts all over the place. I am so proud of the athletic program at Miami. My nephew is Michael Fiore and he played baseball there. I have driven to Pittsburgh to the games..and i will continue to do so. When I was in school at Miami Ted Hendricks ” the stork” was playing and I have been one of the Hurricanes biggest fans since then. Warren Savery, Houston, Tx to Tony Tella: Tony, I hope that you enjoy being part of a national championship. Very few people ever get the chance to be a part of one. The Hurricane tradition is a rare phenomenon. The outside world looks at the team and wonders why it is able to win so consistently on such a high level. A private school with a small enrollment, it’s followers come form all over. I just hope that you are enjoying the atmosphere in Coral Gables and i hope you can talk to Vincent Young about making the same decision you made. Take care and God bless.
Todd Fleming, Nashville, TN to Coach Coker and Ken Dorsey: Congratulations on an incredible season. We made the trip out to Pasadena and, even though I’ve watched you for years, you amazed me with the team’s ability and quickness during that game. I have been a fan for 20 years now (since high school) and am very proud of the way the program has bounced back from adversity. Coach Davis, and now Coach Coker, have done an outstanding job of getting quality student-athletes of character and talent and showing the Nation that you do your talking on the field!Dee Pee, Charlotte, NC to Vilma: Congratulations …and where did you learn to hit like that!!!!
Ben Daugherty, Dunwoody, GA to Jonathan Vilma: Was out at the Rose Bowl- been a Cane fan for years. Congrats on the big win. Went to UGA- AND DESPISE TENNESSEE !!!! Quick, early hint…Watch the short dumpoff pass to the slot receiver- they make a living off of it. I’ll be at that game- I’ve already sounded off to many UT fans- you boys have to take care of business up there. Good luck next season- sounds like the horses are in the stable for another run next year- keep up the monster hits…
