Bennacer Leads Women's Tennis At Lady Seminole Fall Classic

Tallahassee, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami freshman Sihem Bennacer claimed the singles championship in Flight B with her 7-5, 6-2 straight set victory over Auburn’s Maurer on Sunday at the Lady Seminole Fall Classic at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the FSU campus.
Florida’s Jessica Lehnoff won the Flight A championship with a 6-1, 6-1 win over FSU’s Anca Dumitrescu.
UM had two players square off for the Flight C singles title as freshman Jessica Pelto defeated junior Lauren Scaglione in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
Auburn University swept doubles draw A and B while Miami picked up the Flight A consolation championship. Miami’s Toro and Hora defeated UCF’s Westin and Pecastaing 8-1.
In the B doubles draw of the classic it would be Auburn who would again come out on top. AUB’s Suitor and Sauerborn first defeated Montoya and Rosenberg of FIU 8-3 to advance them to the finals where they defeated Miami’s Stevens and Pelto 8-5.
Miami returns to action October 12-14 at the Gator Fall Invitational in Gainesville.
