No. 39 Women's Tennis Set To Face No. 65 Boston College

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 39th-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team will face No. 65 Boston College in Saturday’s semifinal round of the BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Championships starting at Noon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables.
Miami, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, received a first round bye. No. 3-seeded Boston College advanced on the strength of a 4-2 win over No. 6 West Virginia Friday afternoon.
UM defeated the Eagles 6-1 earlier in the season.
The Hurricanes, who are hosting the tournament for the ninth consecutive season, have won the championship six times since joining the conference in 1991. Miami defeated Notre Dame 5-2 last season to claim the title.
Top-seed Notre Dame ranked 7th nationally will also begin play Saturday at 9 a.m. against No. 4 Virginia Tech. VT earned a berth in the semifinals with a 4-2 win over No. 5-seeded Syracuse.
Miami and Notre Dame have played for the BIG EAST Championship in each of the last five seasons.
Syracuse will face West Virginia at 3 p.m. in the first match of the consolation bracket.
