No. 14 Men's Tennis Edges Cornell, 4-3

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Senior Tomas Smid clinched the 4-3 win for the No. 14-ranked University of Miami men’s tennis team over Cornell Thursday night at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improve to 13-2 overall, while the Big Red fall to 11-2 on the season.
Smid defeated Mike Halperin 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 giving Miami the win.
Miami won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Smid teamed up with Peter Hoffman downing Halperin and Stefan Paulovic 8-4 on court No. 1, while Michael Lang and Jose Lieberman beat Greg Artzt and Pat Hagan 8-2 on court No. 2.
Tarik El Bassouni improves to 2-0 on the season with a win over Scott Paltrowitz 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Johan Lindqvist defeated Chris Lewis at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4 improving to 13-2 on the season.
The Hurricanes are back in action Saturday, traveling to face No. 46 South Florida.
