Women's Tennis Falls To FIU, 5-2

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The No. 41 ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team fell to No. 42 Florida International 5-2 Saturday afternoon at The Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

Miami falls to 2-1 on the season, while FIU improves to 2-0.

Marcy Hora (Delray Beach, Fla.) and Katia Bogomolova (Moscow, Russia) were the two UM players to win their singles matches. Hora defeated Mariana Faustinelli at No. 1 singles 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1, while Bogomolova defeated Mari Toro, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.

Lauren Scaglione (Seminole, Fla.) and Siehem Bennacer teamed up to win their doubles match. They defeated Toro and Maria Montoya 8-4.

The Hurricanes are back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. taking on Richmond.
