Men's Tennis Spring Opener vs. Florida Atlantic

CORAL GABLES, FL (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s tennis team begins their 2001 spring season versus Florida Atlantic University on Wednesday, January 31 at 4:00 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The Hurricanes open the season ranked 10th in the region and 22nd in the country after finishing 21st last season with a record of 19-5. Florida Atlantic is ranked 48th in the country. Admission is free.
The 2001 Miami men’s tennis team returns an experienced group that consists of three seniors, three juniors and a sophomore. Junior Tomas Smid and senior Peter Hoffman will lead the Hurricanes this season as the top two singles and the first doubles team.
“We definitely have a veteran squad, the same squad that was top-20 most of last year, the same starting five from last year,” said head coach Jay Berger. “They have worked extremely hard, they have been working hard all year and it’s just time to go out there and let it fly.”
