Hurricanes Travel To Maine Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s soccer team (2-0)travel this weekend to the Maine Invitational, Sept. 4-5, at the Universityof Maine in Orono.
On Saturday, the Hurricanes will face off against host-school Maineat 2 p.m. Miami and Maine met once last season at Gulliver Prep, where theBlack Bears defeated the Hurricanes 3-1.
Sunday’s opponent is New Hampshire. This will be the first meetingbetween the two schools.
The Hurricanes are led in scoring by a veteran and a newcomer, assophomore defender Deidre Bass and freshman midfielder Allison McWhinneyshare the top point mark with four, each. Bass scored the eventual gamewinner in UM’s 3-0 win over Florida State in Tallahassee to start theseason, while McWhinney had a game winning goal of her own in UM’s homeopening, 2-0, win over Long Island.
UM returns to Cobb Stadium on Sept. 10, where it will face FloridaAtlantic at 7 p.m.
