2011 MELCHING LEADERSHIP AWARD
2011 (SENIOR): Started all 12 games of the season, one of only four defensive Hurricanes to accomplish the feat … Finished third on the team with 66 tackles … Led the team with two interceptions, and also recorded one pass break-up … Recorded an interception and recovered a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown against then-No. 20 Georgia Tech… Made a season-high 10 tackles against North Carolina … Four-year letterwinner.
2010 (JUNIOR): Started 10 games at safety, recording 36 tackles … Also had two tackles for loss, and two pass break-ups … Recorded a season-high eight tackles against Virginia.
2009 (JUNIOR): Played in three games and had 10 tackles (three solo, seven assisted) before sitting out the rest of the season and earning a medical redshirt.
2008 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 games and made eight starts … Recorded 28 tackles (20 solo, eight assisted) from his safety position … Had a career-high seven tackles at Georgia Tech … Made five solo tackles in win against Virginia Tech … Also had four tackles in win at Texas A&M.
2007 (FRESHMAN): Played in 11 games for the Hurricanes, mainly on special teams … Picked off first career interception in first game of the season vs. Marshall … Also played on special teams at Oklahoma, against FIU, Texas A&M, Duke, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior in 2006, caught 32 passes for more than 400 yards with six touchdowns … On defense, had four forced fumbles and one interception … Also returned three kicks for touchdowns … As a junior, caught 32 passes for 480 yards and three touchdowns … On defense had 56 tackles, nine pass breakups and three interceptions … Also starred in basketball in high school and listed basketball offers from the likes of FAU, Tulsa and UTEP … Rated the No. 18 player in the state of Florida by Scout.com … Ranked the No. 19 player in Florida by SuperPrep … Rated the No. 30 safety and the No. 61 player in Florida by Rivals.com … Ranked the No. 28 player in the state by the Orlando Sentinel, and the No. 30 player in Florida by the St. Petersburg Times … Coached by Bobby McCray.
