Three Men's Hoopsters Named to ACC All-Academic Team

June 29, 2006

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Three members of the University of Miami men’s basketball team have been named to the 2006 ACC All-Academic Team announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Freshmen Brian Asbury (South Miami), Jimmy Graham (Goldsboro, N.C.) and Adrian Thomas (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) were all named to the 12-man team giving the Hurricanes more honorees then any other team in the league. The only other schools to have multiple players named to the All-Academic team were NC State and Duke. Both schools had two players honored.

To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his career.

“This is testament to the hard work put in by our student-athletes, coaches and the Athletic Department’s academic staff,” said head coach Frank Haith. “The ACC is one of the nation’s strongest conferences in terms of Academics so to have three players honored by the league is a tremendous achievement.”
