Franks Breaks 400m School Record to Qualify for NCAA Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Miami’s George Franks broke the school record in the 400m Friday at the NCAA East Preliminaries to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The senior clocked a 44.88 to break Davian Clarke’s record of 44.96 that stood for nearly 30 years (June 30, 1996).

Franks, who won the 400m at the ACC Championships, will make his first-career appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Miami returns to the track Saturday at 1 p.m. with the women’s discus as running events begin aet 5 p.m. with the women’s 4×100 relay.
