Franks, Hebron Win Gold as Hurricanes Conclude ACC Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Miami track and field team concluded the ACC Outdoor Championships on Saturday with a pair of first-place finishes.

George Franks captured the men’s 400m title with a season-best time of 45.27, winning by nearly eight-tenths of a second.

Sanaa Hebron won gold in the women’s 400m hurdles, her second consecutive ACC title, with a time of 55.19, the second-fastest time in program history.

In the women’s 400m, Serena Tate placed third with a season-best time of 52.69 as Nandy Kihuyu ran a 54.15 to finish fourth.

Desmond Coleman won bronze in the men’s discus as the senior registered a mark of 58.00m. Magdaline Campo earned bronze in the women’s high jump with a clearance of 1.77m.

The men’s 4×100 relay of Ashton Torns, Tristen Washington, Carter Cukerstein and Dylan Woodruffe clocked a 39.52, the second-fastest time in program history, to finish fourth.

Janay Moorer, Nandy Kihuyu, Aniyah Brown and Iyonna Codd ran a season-best 43.88 to finish fourth in the women’s 4×100 relay.

Gabriella Grissom placed fifth in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:03.90. In the women’s triple jump, Adriana Kruzmane registered a distance of 12.98m to finish fifth.

Sean Watkins Jr. secured a sixth-place finish in the men’s 400m at 46.50. In the men’s 200m, Franks finished fourth at 20.86, and Watkins ran a 21.11 to place sixth.

The women’s team placed seventh with 55 points while the men’s team finished seventh with 53 points.

Miami returns to action May 27-30 at the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, Kentucky.
