Campre Wins ACC Decathlon Title

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Miami’s Edgar Campre won the decathlon title Friday as the Hurricanes wrapped up day two of the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Campre, who also won the 2024 decathlon title, finished with 7,749 points and was first in the shot put (14.28m), 110m hurdles (14.32) and discus (45.51m). The Lisbon, Portugal, native notched a second-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.65m and finished third in the 100m and long jump.

Dominique Hall added two points after finishing seventh in the event with 7,048 points.

Kennedy Sauder earned a podium finish in the men’s high jump as he cleared 2.12m to win silver.

Maddie Scheier set a new school record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:16.69.

George Franks and Sean Watkins qualified for the men’s 400m final as Franks clocked the fastest prelim time at 45.78 as Watkins ran a 46.31.

In the women’s 400m prelims, Serena Tate and Nandy Kihuyu placed third and fifth with times of 52.78 and 53.32, respectively, to qualify for Saturday’s final.

Ashton Torns earned a spot in the men’s 100m final after clocking a time of 10.41, and Gabriella Grissom ran a 2:04.40 to qualify for the women’s 800m final.

The Canes return to action for the final day of the ACC Championships at 2 p.m. Saturday.
