Miami Set to Compete at ACC Championships
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Miami track and field is set to compete at the ACC Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park on the campus of the University of Louisville.
Action gets underway Thursday at 11 a.m. with the decathlon as field events begin at 12 p.m. and running events are slated for a 5 p.m. start.
The Hurricanes wrapped up the regular season at the East Coast Relays with four program top-five marks. Sean Watkins entered the record books as he clocked the program’s second-fastest time at 20.70, while George Franks bettered his third-fastest time at 20.74.
Jocelyn Pringle improved her second-best mark in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 63.75m to place second. Evan Pena placed third in the men’s 5000m with a time of 14:34.23, the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Entering the championship weekend, four Hurricanes top the ACC in their respective events including Franks (400m), Sanaa Hebron (400m hurdles), Magdaline Campo (high jump) and Tyson Schiele (javelin), while nine individuals rank in the top five along with the men’s and women’s 4×100 relay and the women’s 4×400 relay.
