Miami Adds Guard Nick Dorn
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball head coach Jai Lucas announced Wednesday the addition of guard Nick Dorn.
Dorn joins the Hurricanes after spending his junior season at Indiana, where he appeared in 30 games with 12 starts and averaged 8.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game. Dorn connected on 60 3-pointers while shooting 38.0 percent from beyond the arc and 87.0 percent from the free throw line.
“We’re excited to welcome Nick to Miami,” Lucas said. “He is a proven shot maker with good size and the ability to stretch the floor at a high level. Nick brings the experience, toughness and feel for the game that we value, and we believe he will be a great fit for our program.”
The Charlotte, North Carolina, native scored in double figures 11 times during his time with the Hoosiers and made multiple 3-pointers in 16 contests. Dorn turned in one of his top performances of the season against No. 6 Louisville, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range to go along with five rebounds.
Dorn closed the regular season with several strong outings in Big Ten play, including 23 points at Rutgers, 18 points and three steals against No. 12 Purdue and a season-high 26 points with seven rebounds at UCLA.
Prior to Indiana, Dorn spent two seasons at Elon, where he was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team and totaled 662 points, 188 rebounds and 134 made 3-pointers. He started all 47 games he played for the Phoenix and averaged 12.0 points and 3.4 rebounds across 55 career games at Elon.
