Miami Reaches New Program High After Rising to No. 14 in Latest CRCA Poll
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After a series of record-breaking performances and a third-place finish at the inaugural Orlando Invitational, the Hurricanes rowing team rose one spot to No. 14 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
The ranking marks the fifth time this season the Hurricanes have achieved a new program high in the CRCA poll.
Miami finished behind only No. 11 UCF and No. 13 Duke in the eight-team field which featured six programs ranked in the Top 25 during the weekend’s races.
Additionally, three of the Hurricanes’ crews posted new program records during Friday’s qualifying heats.
The 1V8 crew of Scarlett Pringle, Naroa Zubimendi Varela, Jovana Stanivuk, Samantha Premerl, Mallory Sullivan, Esther Fuerte Chacón, Candela Martínez Pernas, Maria Sole Perugino and Beatrice Ravini Perelli posted a time of 6:18.9 in its first race on Lake Pickett, besting the previous school record of 6:22.9 set at last year’s ACC Championships.
Meanwhile, the 2V8 crew of Anna Langemann, Paula Espinosa Linares, Felipa Rosas Villalobos, Sara Caterisano, Agostina Manzotti Scolari, Kylie Evenson, Jane Elsner, Camila Cofré Lopez and Gabriela Snopková finished its qualifying heat with a time of 6:27.1 which surpassed the mark of 6:33.3 set in 2023 at the ACC Championships.
Also adding to Miami’s record-breaking weekend was the 2V4 crew of Gabrielle Walsh, Nicole Wyszynski, Holly Prichard, Isabella Raemisch and Krista Jackson, whose time of 7:21.5 in its qualifying heat was also a program best, beating the previous mark of 7:28.6 set at the Sarasota Invitational in 2024.
The Hurricanes will be back in action this weekend when they travel to North Carolina for the Lake Wheeler Invitational, which begins Friday.
