Fuerte Chacón Earns CRCA All-American Recognition

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami freshman rower Esther Fuerte Chacón was named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention selection on Friday, the organization announced.

Fuerte Chacón, who hails from La Linea de la Concepción, Spain, joined the Hurricanes this season and made an immediate impact, rowing with the First Varsity Eight during Miami’s historic first-ever run to the NCAA Championships.

The 1V8+ set multiple records this year, including most recently at the national championship regatta, where the crew posted a time of 6:02.54 in the Petite C Final on the final day of racing.

Miami finished 13th overall in its NCAA Championships debut and last month, posted a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championships. The Hurricanes also finished second this year in the Benderson Cup Standings at the Sarasota 2K Invitational.

This season, Fuerte Chacón helped the Hurricanes earn more than a dozen victories over ranked opponents and Miami finished the year ranked 13th in the CRCA Top 25, its highest-ever finish in the organization’s poll.
