Miami Opens Day One at Tom Jones Memorial
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team opened competition at the Tom Jones Memorial with three top-five program marks Friday at the Percy Beard Track.
Sean Watkins Jr. opened with a win in the men’s 200m with a time of 20.88, setting the school’s third-fastest time in the event.
In the men’s 200m invite, George Franks clocked a 20.92, matching his personal best that ranks fourth all-time in school history.
To close out the day, Enrique Borrego recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history in the men’s 1500m at 3:51.05.
At the Wake Forest Invitational, Maddie Scheier broke her school record in the 3000m steeplechase by over 10 seconds with a time of 10:19.72.
Miami returns to action Saturday for day two of the Tom Jones Invitational. Action begins at 9 a.m. with the women’s discus while running events are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
