Miami Signs Divine Ugochukwu to National Letter of Intent
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced the signing of Divine Ugochukwu Saturday afternoon.
A 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard from Sugar Land, Texas, Ugochukwu averaged 17.1 points, 5.7 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game during his high school career at Clements.
“Divine is great young prospect out of Houston who had a tremendous senior season,” Larrañaga said. “He is a high IQ point guard with elite athleticism and a great feel for the game. We are very excited to add a player like Divine to our freshman class.”
As a senior, Ugochukwu helped his team to a 32-1 record and earned Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A All-Region III Team honors.
Ugochukwu was also a finalist for the Guy V. Lewis Award, which is given annually to the top boys basketball player in the Houston area.
The guard is a three-star recruit according to ESPN and 247Sports and a top-20 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite rating.
