ESPN Anchor, Miami Alumna Williamson to Serve as Emcee for 10th Annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Athletics announced Wednesday that ESPN anchor and former Hurricanes volleyball student-athlete Christine Williamson will serve as emcee for the 10th annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics presented by adidas on Sunday, April 28 at 5 p.m. at the Shalala Student Center Complex.

The Celebration of Women’s Athletics honors current Miami female student-athletes from each of UM’s women’s programs for excellence on the playing field, as well as in the classroom and community.

Williamson played at Miami from 2007-11, registering 929 career kills and helping the Hurricanes earn three NCAA Tournament bids. After earning her bachelor’s degree from UM in broadcast journalism she obtained a master’s degree from Clemson. Williamson also served as CWA emcee in 2022.

“We are excited to welcome Christine back to Coral Gables for the 10th annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics,” Deputy Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Rachelle Paul said. “As a former student-athlete who used her experience at Miami to launch a remarkable career in broadcasting, Christine truly embodies what this event celebrates.”

Williamson joined ESPN in 2019. She hosts ESPN programs on ESPN digital platforms including SC on Snap, Countdown to GameDay, Hoop Streams, Rankings Reaction, The Wrap-Up, The Heisman Show and more, in addition, she has anchored television editions of SportsCenter and is fill-in anchor for First Take. In 2024, she joined the College GameDay Covered by State Farm team as a reporter traveling to college campuses each week. She is also among a rotating group of panelists on ESPN’s afternoon program Around the Horn.

Before joining ESPN, Williamson worked with Fox Sports and Big 12 Network as a digital contributor and on-camera host. She was also a host and reporter for the Denver Broncos.

“Being an athlete at Miami shaped my life in ways that I can’t even begin to explain,” Williamson said. “It means a lot to me to be able to come back and be a small part of the experience of the young women who have chosen to spend their athletic careers as a Hurricane and to honor them for their hard work and achievements.”
