Farouk, Scapens Qualify for NCAA Diving Championships
ATHENS, Ga. – A pair of Miami Hurricanes punched tickets to the 2024 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships Monday afternoon.
Divers Mouhamed Farouk and Brodie Scapens impressed in the men’s 1-meter springboard at Zone B qualifying hosted by the University of Georgia at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Farouk was fifth in the field, finishing with a score of 345.15. Scapens, who won a gold medal at last month’s ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, was right behind his Miami teammate with a sixth-place score of 334.25.
After Monday’s showing, both divers need to only place in the top 12 of the 3-meter and platform to compete in those events later this month at the NCAA Championships. Farouk and Scapens joined swimmers Giulia Carvalho and Emma Shuppert as NCAA postseason participants.
Zone B qualifying for divers continues Tuesday from the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
