W. Tennis Moves up to Sixth in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the seventh week in a row, the University of Miami women’s tennis team ascended in the ITA rankings, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
Miami vaulted up three spots to sixth nationally, good for the program’s highest mark since March 22, 2016. The Hurricanes have jumped 18 spots since Jan. 19, including 15 positions since Feb. 16.
Last week, Miami (12-3, 7-2 ACC) posted a 1-1 record in home matches Friday and Sunday. First, it dropped a 6-1 decision to top-ranked, undefeated North Carolina. Then, two days later, it tallied an impressive 4-3 triumph over then-No. 10 Duke.
The Hurricanes are once again the third of 10 ACC teams in the ITA rankings. Seven of them are in the top 30, including five in the top 15. Miami joins top-ranked North Carolina, second-ranked NC State, No. 13 Virginia, No. 14 Duke, No. 26 Wake Forest, No. 28 Georgia Tech, No. 40 Florida State, No. 49 Notre Dame and No. 57 Clemson on the list.
