Hurricanes Conclude Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team wrapped up play at the Moon Golf Invitational on Tuesday.

“We are very disappointed with our play this weekend, we are much better than what we showed,” head coach Patti Rizzo said. “We have to fix our mistakes, erase this week from our minds and be strong next week.”

The Hurricanes’ top finisher was Anna Backman. She registered back-to-back rounds par or better – 72 (E) in the first round and 71 (-1) in the second round – to finish tied 37th with a three-round score of 221 (+5). Backman leads the team with 10 rounds par or better this season.

UM’s in-state foe, Florida State, claimed the team title with a score of 10-under par (854). They were followed by fellow ACC school Virginia (860; -4) in second and LSU (861; -3) to round out the top three.

The Canes finished with a score of 915 (+51) for 15th.

Next, the Hurricanes will have a quick turnaround as they head to Tallahassee for the FSU Match-Up, Feb. 25-27.
