Byrne Closes Out Play at 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami golfer Sara Byrne closed out action with Team International at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup Sunday afternoon at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland.

Team USA and Team International entered the final day of the Arnold Palmer Cup tied at 18, but Team USA narrowly edged Team International, 14.5 to 9.5 on Sunday to clinch the overall victory, 32.5 to 27.5.

Byrne played alongside Louisville’s Max Kennedy in the first three rounds of competition, winning all three matches over their Team USA opponents.

On Sunday, Byrne faced off with Team USA’s Melanie Green (South Florida) in match play. Green took an early 1UP lead, but Byrne responded with three birdies over the next six holes to go 2UP for Team International.

The Ireland native extended her lead to as much as 3UP over the next seven holes, but Green sunk a pair of birdies on holes 15 and 17 to clinch the match at 1UP for Team USA.
